Crisis in the palladium market will hit Russia — 2002/11/26

 

There is a crisis in the world palladium market: on November 25th this metal costs US $ 261 per troz that is the lowest price for the last four years.

Russia is the chief palladium supplier on the international market. MMC ”Norilsk Nickel” produces 40 % of the world palladium production.

According to the forecast of experts, world palladium consumption this year will not exceed 4.8 million troz that is 28 % lower than last year figures. Moreover, Russian will reduce its palladium export by 60 % as compared to 2001.

In 2003 the palladium price was forecast to trade between US $ 250 and US $ 330 per troz. Palladium was fixed on November 26th p.m. in London at US $ 265 per troz.
